Okay, here we go...remember back when you were a newby, (as I am a complete newby), I very first day you decided to ride your bike to work. Here is my story...
Friday, April 20th, 2007. I woke up and watched the weather, it was going to be mid 70's, a little windy, but very nice. I debated on riding since it was going to be 10-30 mph winds. I debated with myself as I got the kids up and ready for school. We were all ready to go with plenty of time left so I rushed the kids out the door so that I could get them to school and then go get my bike. I am keeping it at a friends house in the garage, I only have a carport. I call him as I am leaving and tell him to leave the door unlocked since my helmet and jacket are inside his house. He informs me that he has already left. I was beginning to get upset, I was really looking forward to riding this day. Then all of a sudden something hit me to look at my keyring. I still have his house key from when we were more than friends, long story. So I got very excited again. I dropped the kids off at school and went to get my bike. Woo Hoo!!!! I head out to work which is a 30 mile ride. As I am riding, I notice the wind, blowing harder and harder. I had white knuckles, no lie. I leaned in and rode my little heart out. I turned on to the street heading North and the wind must have been from the South because it was no longer hitting me from the side. As I rode up the road going North, I really enjoyed myself, it was a beautiful ride. There is nothing more relaxing than enjoying yourself on your bike. I got to work, I was about 20 minutes late, since I am breaking my bike in I can not go the speed limit yet. Did I care that I was late? Hell no! I just had the best drive to work that I ever had. Even though I think I forgot a few things that I learned in the safety course, like slow down before you turn and don't hold the clutch and break while you turn. Yeah, those kinds of things Oh well, I made alive and well, and could think of all that I had done wrong so that I could correct it on the way home.
The way home was another story...I had to drive staight into the wind heading south on that rode that was so beautiful on the way to work. But I made it.
Have you ever felt like a bobble head? Believe me, living in Oklahoma with the winds crazy like they are and wearing a helmet, I have become a newby bobble head LilNinja.
Okay, now it is your turn. I want to hear everyone else's stories of their first day ever to ride their bike to work...I know you have them so give them up.

It is hard for me to remember the particulars... I remember that it was a good ride... That the only drawback was the helmet hair! The people that I worked with at the time wanted me to ride to work everyday because my mood was notably better when I rode to work. The worst thing about driving to work was the work. I would go to the window and look out at my bike sitting there all alone... so sad... I barely could concentrate on work cuz I was counting down to quitting time. _________________ “We either make ourselves happy or miserable. The amount of work is the same.” – Carlos Castaneda

Okay, that reminded me of a couple details that I left out...I was looking for some afternoon errands to do....I parked my bike in the parking space where I could strech my neck a little and see him from my desk out of my bosses window, as long as her door was open. I couldn't wait to go home.
Also, on the way to work, I had even thought of just going down some road that may not even lead to work, taking a detour of some kind.

Now that my kids are in school all day....I have to wait till school is over for me in May and then, Believe me, I will be. I try to go out every day just to keep skills up. Even if it is just in to town (5 miles) to pick up something from the store. People ofen make the mistake of thinking that They have to "go on a ride'....I think it is better to get any time on the bike, it helps the mental attitude greatly!!.--tink _________________ ~~we ride under the same sun and rest under the same moon~~

That is too true. I need to remember that. Of course for me it is a little more difficult. My bike is about 8 miles from my house, by the time I get home from work, it would be just to hard to go get my bike to run to town. Soon, Soon I will bring him home. I just like leaving him in the garage so he doesn't get messed with.
