Sunday my husband came home from his riding practice and told me "I took the 112 challenge" (AR 112) I said to him, "gosh you are catching up to me" Soooo, on my Sunday evening ride, I figured I'd need to do somthing new, and I did:)
I took off and rode to West Fork AR on US71B and then rode back on I-540...my first interstate highway experience with this new bike and actually my first 70 mph speed limit experience since back when I had my 550 the speed limit was 55.
I have to say it was "something", LOL!
First, since I did not really plan it, I did not have my windshield on so I had major wind to deal with at 70mph, lol!
I was amazed that the bike felt like it was just cruising (of course since it has an engine the size of many small cars. lol)...yet, the feeling of "what if" was hard to put out of my mind.
OK....talk to me...tell me about whart you all have tried...

Hey! That is awesome!!!! I wrote about my first interstate experience in my article "The gift of riding alone" that is on the home page here. (scroll down to find it.)
On Sunday I test drove a new bike that didn't have a windshield on. YUCK!!!! I couldn't see through the tears! (and yes, I had my good Maui Jim glasses on.) The first thing going on that bike is the windshield.
What's new for me? Using my highway pegs! First I have to explain that they're not adjusted right. They're out about 2 inches too far, which means I can't hang my heel on them, only my toe. But THAT means my heels EASILY bump either the shifter or the brake. Once they were adjusted better, the first couple times I used them I felt TOTALLY out of control of the bike! I wondered how my husband can ride like that all the time! But over the weekend we went on a really long ride and....just for fun (and for cool factor)....I put my feet up. aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh it felt wonderful!
Some of the siliest things can make me feel proud!

When I had my first trike, I decided to go on vacation to New Mexico, went thru Oklahoma panhandle,to Taso,NM, then to Sante Fe and back home. Oh, I forgot say that was my first time pulling my little horse trailer loaded down with stuff, first time for interstate ride at 70 plus and hour, and first time for going up and around mountains and then back down. The day we left to come home, we had constatnt 35 to 45 mile an hour winds and believe it or not, I was so glad when a big truck pulled up beside me on the interstate because it blocked the wind for a few minutes. I got educated very fast on that trike. I must say, I found out that I don't like the mountains, even if I had been in a car, I would prefer flatter land and even better for me would be beaches. I'm glad I took the trip but have no desire to go back to mountains so I guess that leaves out alot of states. Maybe if I get to go on another vacation with my new trike, I can take the coast run and would just love to go to Key West on it but I would have to have a travel buddy for that one! Anyone ready for Key West????
