Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well by David L. Hough

I heard about this book and decided to order it. It is a compilation of the many articles that the author had written over the years. I like this book because he writes to the common (wo)man. You do not need an engineering degree to understand any of the concepts that he presents. He includes many pictures and diagrams to help illustrate the techniques that he is talking about. I think it is a great addition to any biker's library! The only negative is due to the construction of the book. The binding is terrible and falls apart but what I did was punch holes in it and put it in a binder. I read other people took it to Kinkos or the such and had spiral binding put in. Here is a review from WebBikeWorld: Now the most popular motorcycle riding skills book among wBW visitors! If there is one book that every motorcyclist should own, this is it. The book is based on the "Proficient Motorcycling" columns that Mr. Hough has written for many years for Motorcycle Consumer News and other periodicals that explain all aspects of motorcycling that involve safe and proficient riding. Reading this book is like having a highly experienced motorcycle expert giving you the benefit of a lifetime of experience on the subject. It contains many chapters with illustrations that explain just about everything you should know about riding safe and well. It pays to read this book before every riding season and to refer to it often. Chapters include: Risk; Motorcycle Dynamics; Urban Traffic Survival; Booby Traps; Special Situations; and Sharing the Ride. It is written in an easy-to-read style that helps to convey a wealth of information to any rider. Highly recommended! wBW Rating: 4 Flaming Helmets (a must have)

Glad you brought up the Proficient Motorcycling book, there is also a second book called MORE Proficient Motorcycling --- Mastering the ride.

Good to have on hand following the first one. Gives you more insight into riding.
